LTC Glover has asked that we have some historical conversation about the First World War, now that we are in the centennial of our entry into it.
It is easy to forget that Sir Winston was in the thick of it – and the disaster at Gallipoli was laid at his feet. From that and near disgrace he rose again from the political dead to lead the European Allies to Victory in the Second World War. And thank God for his leadership.
You could highlight any one of these quotes – but I suggest the one that speaks to us today and right now is….”A nation that forgets its history has no future.” One might paraphrase that as…..” A nation that forgets or attempts to discard its history will lose it, and thereby lose its rightful future.”
