The Battle of Cowpens, SC – 1/17/1781
On January 17, 1781, American Colonial forces under Brigadier General Daniel Morgan conducted the only “double envelopment” of the Revolutionary War when they engaged the British forces under Lieutenant Colonel Sir Banastre Tarleton. The battle was a turning point in the reconquest of South Carolina from the British. This presentation from LTC Martin Howley explains how this battle unfolded.
